I received the François Bregha Storyteller Award from the Historical Society of Ottawa for podcast and telling the stories of Ottawa in a new digital media. This was a great honour, especially when I look at how many of the previous recipients have influenced me and contributed either directly or indirectly to my research. I spoke at the Merrickville Legion Hall about the 32 years between 1759 and 1791, and what the effects were of the American War of Independence upon the foundation of Upper Canada. It was a great crowd, there was a good discussion afterwards, and I felt proud to have the first OHH public speaking event under my belt!
