Samuel de Champlain

Samuel de Champlain was the Lt. General of New France and governor in all but name. You’d be hard pressed to find town in Quebec that doesn’t have at least a street named after him. Below are the two statues from Kiwiki Point, one of Champlain and the other of an Algonquin scout. You can also see an image of the Champlain Bridge, the last of the five bridges going upriver.

Bronze statue of a man in historic clothing, holding a shield with a cross symbol, standing outdoors on a stone pedestal, with a curved walkway and trees in the background under a blue sky.
Bronze statue of a Native American man with a feather headdress, kneeling on one knee, with a rifle slung over his shoulder, set on a large stone in a park with trees, benches, and modern street lamps under a blue sky.
A body of water with dry grass in the foreground and a bridge in the distance under a partly cloudy sky.
